Welcome

Primarily a Electronic Music and Arts Service broad minded provides creative electronic music workshops with an open mind and purpose for all walks of life.

Broad-minded works in a way that allows the learner to develop confidence and at a pace they feel comfortable with. We teach in an intuitive and approachable manner, which we believe allows for creativity to blossom.

From a wider perspective we also care about wellbeing, communities, being charitable and the planet.  Broad-minded's conception was based on the solar system with a view to all things constantly evolving and thinking outside the box.

Be broad-minded and use music to express and inspire!

About us

Broad-minded started in 2003 as a business with a social conscious that helped promote artists, dj's and visual performers whilst raising vital awareness for charities such as Huntingtons Disease and the Imani Community Centre in Manchester.

Monies were raised through Music events and a DJ Agency whilst also providing PA Sound System hire to various events for companies such as Adidas, Chester Civic Trust and Slug and Lettuce. We also provided creative music workshops for community events as we moved forward.

broad-minded was supported by the Prince's Trust and won Awards in 2007 for Young Entrepreneur of the year for Chester, Warrington and the Wirral, Best Business Link Award, a Community Focus award and was also a Shell Live Wire Finalist.

Lee Gosnay's (Founder) Mum was his inspiration  for Broad-minded and made him realise that we should be grateful for every moment and make it count.  Lee's Mum had Huntington's disease and this made him think differently towards life and the adversities people face and how like his Mum we can live life the best we can and make a positive difference!

Broad-minded now specialises in delivering electronic music workshops for young people and adults in the community for various organisations, charities and purposes etc.

"The delegates involved in the electronic music jam were thoroughly engaged and engrossed in the session. Meanwhile, the audience were inspired by what it was possible to produce with Lee’s guidance. Most people rated the Broad-minded session as excellent."

Deborah Williams - Programme Executive, xl Programme North, Prince's Trust

“As a community services coordinator, I was introduced to Broad Minded (Lee) through a colleague whose visual impairment awareness session he had attended. Lee was very flexible and accommodating throughout the session for Henshaws, Society for Blind People’s Children’s activity. He is a reliable and pleasant person to work with professionally and had a lovely manner with the children. The 2 hr Groove-box workshop allowed everyone to get involved and create a finished product that they were proud of. The boxes are very tactile and accessible for visually impaired people with adjustments that Lee had made. We look forward to working with Broad-minded again at the next opportunity.”

Sophie Thompson

Community Services Coordinator/Enablement Officer

Henshaws, Society for Blind People’s Children’s

"Lee has just provided two excellent sessions for the Scout group I'm involved with, teaching the young people some of the basic skills involved in Dj-ing. He kept the groups interested and engaged with what was going on and provided a varied range of activity that they all thoroughly enjoyed."

Paul Cook - Widnes Scout Leader

"I have worked with Lee on a number of charitable live music events as well as in an educational capacity, and I have always thoroughly enjoyed working together.

His passion for music and his belief in it's power to help people is inspirational and infectious, and I would highly recommend Lee to anyone thinking of working with him."

Paul Crudgington - Music Producer at De-tached Recordings

"Plenty of fun was had and the tutors were freindly, patient and very interactive. I've not seen this arrangement before, very professional yet relaxed and we would like to work with broad-minded again""

Kate Gabbani - Youth Worker Connexions

Cheshire West Library Reading Challenge Events - Testimonial

Lee came to run a workshop in our rural library over the summer as part of our Summer Reading Challenge events.   He was very patient with the children and included them in the workshop very well. The group enjoyed the process of creating their own music and would have liked longer to carry on doing so. As a consequence I am hoping that Lee will look to come to one of our other libraries and set up a regular group. I would heartily recommend Lee’s workshops to children aged 9+ .
